Griffin has been rising through our draft board since the
beginning of summer workouts. The former McDonald's
All-American and Powerade Jam Slam champion is not
disappointing us either. The Sooner's prize signee is off to
a quick start averaging about 15 points and almost 10
rebounds a game. However, showed signs of problems
guarding Joey Dorsey when the two matched up earlier
this season. Great decision to play alongside brother
Taylor on the Sooner front-line...(Brother Taylor has a team
best 38-inch vertical leap.)
Griffin has all the tools needed to be NBA star. Great ball
handling, quickness, athleticism, strength and work ethic.
Plays at high level mentally even though he wears his
emotions on his sleeve. Not going to be able to show
everything he can do at college level do to offensive sets
run at Oklahoma. Will be able to thrive at NBA level in
open court.
His average rating on defense should improve with him
becoming better aware of the college game. Relays on
instincts rather than positioning skills defense sets.
Needs to improve blocking out his man before
rebounding...(example was his inability to keep Memphis
off the glass in their loss earlier this year.)
Has shown range extending out to three-point arc, but we
feel he is still better suited for post. Needs to work on foot
movement in post in order to get around guys that are just
as quick as him.
