Koufos has been on our radar for several years, and we
applaud his decision to attend OSU. Will get chance at
college level to produce right away, already showing us
promising signs with an impressive 22 point and 14
rebound night against VMI. Forced into many poor looks
against Texas A&M, and showed signs why he still need a
lot of grooming.
Tremendous ball handler for a big man, has no problem
dribbling up court if needed. Outstanding shooter from
inside of 15 feet, likely the best big man in NCAA at using
the backboard. Defensively we think he will only get better,
never will he be an intimating shot blocker due to poor
vertical leaping ability, but at 7'1 he doesn't need to leave
his feet to block or alter shots. Has great timing when he
does leave his feet.
Excellent in defending the low post because he gets into get
position with his hussle getting up and down the floor.
Showing the signs of range that makes us drool...already he
is 5 for 11 from behind the 3-point arc. Maybe a better idea
would be to practice his foul shots more, he is shooting
only 58% from the line.
Should have excellent chance to work his way to near the
top of the draft board with a strong tournament run in
spring and with solid Big Ten season.
